What Is Wool Sliver?
Sliver (pronounced Sly-ver) is a material closely related to the ropey, carded, roving fibers that many crafters are familiar with. However, sliver is unique in that it has no twist, setting it apart from typical roving.
Texture and Handling
Sliver is a lofty strip of wool that offers a different tactile experience compared to combed tops. It is not slippery, making it easier to handle for a variety of felting techniques.
Ideal Uses
The qualities of sliver make it especially well-suited for needle felting, wet felting, and spinning. Its substantial texture and lack of twist allow for greater control and versatility in creating natural fiber 2-D and 3-D art.
Why Weir Crafts Chose Sliver
This is a new product offering for Weir Crafts. The selection was based on the sliver’s gorgeous range of natural, undyed, earthy tones as well as its vibrant dyed colors, making it an attractive option for crafters seeking both beauty and variety in their materials.
