The caps can be a short hair style by themselves, or a base for longer hair to be attached to.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"alignwide wp-block-heading\">Need to Learn how to Crochet?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll need to know how to make a chain stitch and a double crochet stitch to make these caps. The number of stitches per row will vary depending on your particular head, so keep checking each row against the doll head as you proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-ast-global-color-1-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">DIRECTIONS FOR 12 OR 16 INCH DOLL HEADS:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a crochet hook size J, chain stitch about 5-6 stitches. Join to form a loop.<br><strong>ROW 1:<\/strong> Chain 2. Make 11 double crochets around the loop. Join.<br><strong>ROW 2:<\/strong> Chain 2. Work 2 double crochets in each stitch, 22 stitches total. Join.<br><strong>ROW 3:<\/strong> Chain 2. Double crochet in each of next two stitches, then 2 double crochets in third stitch, repeat around row. 30 stitches total. Join.<br><strong>ROW 4:<\/strong> Chain 2. Double crochet in each stitch (no increases). Keep trying it on over the doll head every row to check the size and curvature. Adjust the number of increases to fit.<br><strong>Row 5:<\/strong> Chain 2. Double crochet in each stitch, increasing if necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will start working rows without increase as you reach the fullest part of the head. Continue rows as for row 5 until the cap reaches the right size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sew the cap securely onto the head around the edges, then around and around around the interior every inch or so.<br>Like the stitched down hair, a crocheted cap can be used as a base for other styles. Put on the cap, then use it to attach longer lengths of hair evenly all over the head to make a longer hair style. Cut yarn lengths twice the length you want. Fold length in half. Attach to the cap using a half hitch in the center at the fold. Trim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-ast-global-color-1-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">DIRECTIONS FOR 20 INCH DOLL HEAD:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a crochet hook size J, chain stitch about 5-6 stitches. Then wrap your yarn around it a number of times and cut along one edge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fold a cut length in half. Insert your crochet hook under a loop in the cap. Catch the center of the folded length in your hook, draw back through the cap, and secure in place with a half hitch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat all over the cap until the cap is covered in lengths of yarn.
